Orion Holidays Becomes a Habitat Hero of the Cotswold Water Park

Orion Holidays is delighted to announce we are now a Premium Habitat Hero of the Cotswold Lakes Trust.

The Cotswold Water Park where our luxury holiday homes are located, is a very special and unique place. Consisting of 180 lakes across 42 square miles, this man-made wetland landscape was formed from the pits that were excavated for limestone.

The area is rich in biodiversity and wildlife and 177 of the lakes are now designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to their importance for breeding birds, wintering birds and aquatic plants.

In fact, the area can see up to 200 species of bird visiting the Cotswold Water Park each year, is home to 14 out of 18 UK specifies of bat, has a thriving Otter population and is internationally important for wintering wildfowl as well as being important for breeding birds such as the Great Crested Grebe.
